Shrimp and grits is an iconic Southern dish and easy to make at home. Grits topped with shrimp, onions, peppers and bacon come together for this classic dish with great flavor.

1-2 pounds of fresh shrimp (deveined + peeled)
1/2 red bell pepper (chopped)
1/2 green bell pepper (chopped)
4 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 medium yellow (or white onion)
white pepper (or black pepper)
fresh (or dried) herb slurry (rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano)
*add herbs to a blender and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to get slurry going. blend well.
1-2 tablespoons of olive oil (to saute ingredients)
1 1/2 cups of instant white grits
1 stick of butter
Optional: fresh shredded cheese of your choice (to stir + melt into grits)
Optional: 1 cup of whole milk (to stir into grits)
