EVENT DETAILS

Chef Daniel is back to teach us this Argentine classic, empanadas! Grab your ingredients and meet us in the kitchen! 

Ingredients Needed (for 8 medium sized empanadas): 

Dough:

  • 3.5 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (50 grams)
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour (plus more for dusting) 
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1 Tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 Cup of Desired Frying Oil (optional) 

Meat Filling:

  • 1 lb Ground Sirloin 
  • 1 Small Red Bell Pepper 
  • 1 Small Onion 
  • 1 Tomato (preferably Roma)
  • Black Olives 
  • 1/4 Cup Red Wine (optional)  
  • 1/4 Cup Chicken Stock (optional) 
  • A small bag of ice (to cool down the filling)
  • Sauté Oil 

Vegetable Filling: 

  • 1 Bunch Fresh Spinach (frozen can be substituted) 
  • 1 Onion 
  • 1 Tbsp Unsalted Butter 
  • 1 Tbsp All Purpose Flour 
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk 
  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese 
  • Nutmeg Salt to taste
  • Sauté Oil 

Kitchen Tools Needed: 

  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing Bowl 
  • Wooden Spoon 
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Kneading Space (counter, table, etc) 
  • Sauté Pan 
  • Bowls 
  • Plates
  • Fry Pan 
  • Oven (optional to bake your empanadas) 

Originally from Argentina, Chef Daniel has lived in California for the past 40 years exposing himself to its rich diveristy of cuisines. This has allowed him to expand within the kitchen, experimenting with different ingredients and techniques from around the world. His classes help people master a specific dish while learning kitchen fundamentals with an emphasis on making cooking enjoyable.
