EVENT DETAILS

Join us for thiis incredibly entertaining and fun cooking class with Chef Natalia Luna, straight from Mexico City! Get ready to dance, laugh and learn how to make three delicious salsas: salsa roja, guacamole taquero, and pico de gallo. 

We believe access to this cooking class should be free, to help people understand the richness of latinos culture. However, we encourage you to support our non-profit partners by purchasing the Donation ticket type, donations will benefit Chirla, an organization focused on helping latino immigrants and refugees.

INGREDIENTS

CORN CHIPS 

  • 6 - 10 Corn tortillas
  • 8 oz of vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste (optional)

SALSA ROJA

  • 2 red tomatoes
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 to 12 Chile de árbol (or any dry or smoked pepper, pepper flakes or chili powder)
  • 2 full tablespoons of peanuts or any nut of your preference
  • 3 tablespoons of oil of your choice
  • Salt & pepper to taste

SALSA VERDE (GUACAMOLE TAQUERO)

  • 2 green tomatillos (use red tomatoes in case you are unable to get tomatillo)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 1 jalapeño or 1 Serrano pepper or any green fresh pepper
  • 1 avocado (optional)
  • Few leaves of fresh Cilantro
  • 1 lime or lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper to taste

PICO DE GALLO

  • 1 or 2 firm red tomatoes
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 1 habanero pepper or any fresh pepper of your choice
  • 1 lime or lemon juice
  • 1 radish (optional)
  • 1 sweet mango or pinapple or peach, melon, papaya (or any sweet tropical fruit)
  • Cilantro to taste
  • Salt & pepper

KITCHEN TOOLS 

  • Apron (optional)
  • 3 blows for salsa
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Stone Molcajete (optional)
  • Non stick pan
  • 2 Frying pan
  • Kitchen tongs
  • Blender or food processor
  • Kitchen cloth

ABOUT CHEF NATALIA LUNA

Passionate Mexican Cook with almost 10 years of experience in Food Services & Teaching Traditional Mexican Cooking. She had the opportunity to study at the National School of Mexican Gastronomy in Mexico City. She has successfully hosted Mexican Cooking Experiences since 2017 in person & online. Her Mexican Salsas Experience is listed as 20 of the Best Experiences in Latin America by BuzzFeed. Has also been featured in the L.A. Times and Hoy Los Ángeles.
